Buffalo Trace Bourbon Hamburger Patty Melt (Bourbon Whiskey Recipes)

No folks, this isn't your average patty melt. This is a Buffalo Trace Bourbon Hamburger Patty Melt, made with none other than real Buffalo Trace Bourbon Whiskey...

Buffalo Trace Bourbon Patty Melt

I stumbled upon this recipe on Facebook here ... she made it with brown sugar and caramelized onions.  I didn't think a patty melt could get any better, but alas, it did.

Buffalo Trace Bourbon Hamburger Patty Melt

Patty melts are super easy. Make them just like you would a hamburger, but with this delish twist!

Ingredients

4 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup bourbon
2 Vidalia onions, thinly sliced
1 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 pounds ground beef
4 tablespoons bourbon
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1 1/4 teaspoon ground oregano
1 1/4 tsp table salt
1 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
6 slices smoked Provolone cheese
sliced hamburger pickles to garnish

Instructions

Melt the butter over medium heat
Add the 1/4 cup bourbon, onions, sugar, salt and pepper
Cook, stirring occasionally until the onions are caramelized.
Empty into a bowl and set aside. Fry bacon to your desired doneness. Set aside.
Add ground beef to a large bowl with 4 tablespoons bourbon, Worcestershire sauce, cumin, oregano, and a dash of salt and pepper.
Mix with your hands and form into 6-8 patties (depending on how big you like them)
In the same pan that you fried the bacon, heat the olive oil and bacon grease and cook the burgers until done to your liking and right before you're done cooking, add cheese to the patties to melt

Top with bacon slices, caramelized onions and pickles

That's it! Serve with sweet potato fries, regular french fries, or any other side of your choosing. Chips work too.

Texas Margarita On The Rocks

This Texas Margarita is a twist on the classic cocktail, made with pineapple juice (or just chunks) and a little bit of jalapeƱo for added spice! If you're not a fan of pineapple juice, you can substitute for orange juice for this amazing drink recipe. Cheers!
